My middle school daughter loves to go roller skating. She and her friend, also a newbie to ABQ have been going to a rink way down by I-40. We live in the far northeast heights, so this means I'm shlepping down Juan Tabo for miles and have to shlep again at 10:00 pm when they finish.

Are there any safe, nice rinks closer to the far NE Heights?

As far as I know, Outpost is just fine. Maybe call though since I know hockey games take over the ice at times.

Outpost is Ice Skating. I think the OP was looking for Roller Skating which I believe Roller Skate City is the only place in town. Roller Rinks have gone the way of the dodo bird.

Oops, guess I wasn't paying attention.

Blades hasn't had a roller rink in 8 or 9 years. The roller rink side was converted to an indoor soccer rink. They still have the ice rink though.

I remember when I was little we used to have Roller King and Roller West that we'd go to but, yes, roller rinks have pretty much vanished in Albuquerque in those twenty or so years since I've been to one.

That's too bad because my middle school aged kids went roller skating almost every Friday night in Austin. It was the thing to do, and my daughter's friend who just moved from Indiana really loves roller skating.

I guess I'll just have to shlep them to the one way down at 1-40 and Juan Tabo.
