Does anyone use one of those backyard coal or log fire pits they sell at Lowe's and Home Depot? Are there any specific restrictions for using those within the city limits? Thanks.

I use both an outdoor fireplace and an outdoor pit. I'm not sure of any restrictions. Never thought about it.

There are some restrictions. Bonfires, cooking, and burning piled vegetative material are conditionally allowed.

I can't tell you how many parties centered around backyard fire pits, chimineas, and other such open fires I have been to in Albuquerque.

It is pretty common in my neighborhood to have a fire pit. In posher hoods, built in outdoor fire places with chimneys are fairly common. Chimineas seem popular all over.
