I search and there isn't much about a night life for young people in Albuquerque. Is there any good clubs? Me and my parents might move to Rio Rancho in a couple years they just want to make sure that its a place I want to live as well, I'm 20 by the way. We visited about 4 months ago and I was disappointed with the downtown area....there's nothing there! For such a huge town we didn't see much going on. Can anyone help me out? THANKS

There really is nothing. My wife & I moved here in 2006. Downtown has a few clubs that are OK, but there will be road blocks. If you travel there, be very careful. Sources now claim that the City of Albuquerque is the 4th most violent in the USA. Rio Rancho is laid back. Other than you typical Applebees/Fridays.... there is not much going on. ISOTOPES baseball and UNM sports seem to be the places to go.

Umm, what about Nob Hill? Granted, it's not convenient to RR, but then what do you expect?

One of my sources says Albuquerque is not in the top 118 Most Dangerous Cities in the United States: Most Dangerous Cities in the United States (2009)

The downtown clubs seem to be the ones that particular draw a younger crowd, or it seems to be the area with the highest concentration of such clubs.

What type of clubs are you looking for?

To get a feeling for what's going on, these are good basic sources:

weekly alibi - albuquerque's alternative newsweekly - alibi.com
Local IQ - HOME
:: albuquerqueARTS :: Albuquerque's monthly magazine of the arts

Things are pretty spread out within Albuquerque, so living in Rio Rancho is only going to make them more inaccessible.

Im not really into art work and that seems be a big part of Alb. All I'm looking for is thing to do for a young person, clubs/hangouts/ good malls. I don't want to move from a boring area to another boring g area. Thanks for the help!

Its only going to be boring if you let it be. I'm on the younger side too. My husband and I are moving there next month. From my experience you aren't going to find many "clubs/hangouts/good malls". Why would you move to a beautiful city such as ABQ just for those 3 things and not be open to taking in the richness of culture that ABQ and NM has to offer?
I personally am looking forward to befriending locals, having dinner parties at my home, spending time listening to local bands/concerts in the evening, watching the beautiful sunsets, art galleries, etc. That sounds like a blast to me. I guess you are going to have to create your own fun and maybe broaden your interests a little bit.

Uh.. my wife and I are pretty young. We love art, music, etc.

Try not to group all of us "young people" into a single entity.

If you're only entertained by Clubs and Shopping, move somewhere else.

Im 20 years old, I don't really have a huge desire looking at sunsets every-night or looking at different artwork for my main entertainment, maybe thats just me? I understand Alb. has that to offer and I agree with those statement. Thats why Im wondering what else is there to do for someone young? Thanks again.
