I will miss a good skyline coney or deweys pizza! The area I live in now seems close in price, seems to vary a bit. I am looking forward to the more stable weather that's for sure.
We have found a handful of places we are trying to get in touch with. Two are actually in Los Lunas I believe.
I may have him go sometime. He has had some very bad experiences before with mean dogs.

We decided on a place in Sandia Park- it's not in the city as I had initially planned but the space for our dog and the place is great.
I see there is a triangle grocery nearby, any suggestions for places to eat and best hikes nearby? I would really love to start hiking again when I get out there- with my dog of course. Thanks!
The Triangle in Cedar Crest is a nice place. Its original location was in Sandia Park and was a lot dingier, but the new spot anchors a new, well-put-together shopping center that includes what I think is the best restaurant in the East Mountains, the Greenside Cafe. There's also a flea market there on weekends, and I believe the East Mountains growers market is held there during the summer and fall.
Restaurant-wise there's also a Los Cuates location in the little village of San Antonito (just north of Sandia Park on Highway 14), good green chile cheeseburgers at Burger Boy in San Antonio (different little village, just south of Cedar Crest), and reliable diner-y fare at the Cedar Point Grille in Cedar Crest. Fat Boy Coffee Roasters, also in Cedar Crest, has a nice selection of baked goods and as the name implies roast their own coffee. Cedar Crest is also home to Coffee at Dawn which I think I may prefer. There's a BBQ joint in the same shopping center as Fat Boy that has a definite following, but I've never been. A little farther afield, the old coal mining town of Madrid (that's MAD-rid if you want to sound like a local) has a very healthy arts/bohemian scene and several great eateries, most notably The Holler with its NM-inflected southern food. I'm sure you can find other threads about Madrid here in the New Mexico group.
As far as hiking goes, Sandia Park is immediately adjacent to the national forest - try the Cienega or Doc Long picnic grounds for the easiest access, but there are lots of other ways to get in. My favorite trails on that side of the mountain are probably the Faulty Trail and the 10k Trail.
