Thanks for the clarification, I didn't know there was a Southern Blvd in ABQ too. I'm more than certain Rio Bravo was supposed to be part of it; There's enough ROW for two Rio Bravos. If it was retried in the current day they could connect Tramway to Rio Bravo via the Tijeras Draw, making for a cheap and easy link to the Sunport, Mesa del Sol, and points west. Is there any info online of this old proposed route?
OP: Sorry if I'm going a little off topic, but freeway routes come to mind when one thinks about development on the mesa.
I think Sandia Labs and/or Kirtland Air Force Base are in the way.

It wraps behind the lab and between the base facilities and neighborhoods. The draw is undeveloped except for an abandoned rail spur, and even if Kirtland owns it, it not exactly unheard of to provide easement for a highway i.e. Texas State Highway Spur 601.

It looks like it would have continued west along the north edge of Kirtland/Sandia up to Wyoming, then worked its way over to Gibson...the wide gap at the north edge of Kirtland through this area was intended for this purpose. Then west along Gibson (which is also unusually wide for a surface street now that you mention it) before working south to Rio Bravo somehow...

There is not a Southern Blvd in ABQ, there is a Southern Avenue in ABQ.

And yes, the thread has drifted "off topic"...
No wonder I've never heard of it; its way up there by the mountains.
A little more on topic: With the new Paseo del Vulcan slated to run north-south through Santolina the Metro counties really have an opportunity to create at least a partial ring that could go from near Bernalillo, through Rio Rancho, Santolina, then on to Los Lunas, more for commuter use than for the other.
