The Mexican consulate in Albuquerque last week celebrated its 170th year of operation. This is amazing to me that it has been operating this long. It just shows to me that people shouldn't try to downplay the relationship and importance of Mexico to Albuquerque and New Mexico.

I don't think anyone is downplaying the relationship between NM and MX. This conversation started because of an idiotic statement insinuating that Trump came to Albuquerque on the 16 of September for nefarious reasons.

Great article, thanks for posting it. To quote from it:

Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller also spoke to the small crowd at the museum, promoting unity and community.

“The fact that we are celebrating 170 years, that is a very special thing,” Keller said. “Having the consulate here is a very special thing.”

He said the Monday visit from President Donald Trump gave the city an opportunity to “have a little bit of fun,” and wish a happy birthday to Mexico. Monday was Mexico’s Independence Day.

“We try and honor that respect by re-establishing bridges as opposed to building walls,” Keller said.

It could be that Hilary and Obama have been irrelevant for years now, whereas Trumps drops a deuce of a comment every two days and he is the sitting president, which is to say, relevant.

No, I don't think so. The mainstream media downplayed/dropped/ignored those comments as fast as they could. Then they acted shocked when people referred to as "a basket of deplorables" didn't vote for Hilary.

That is not the topic of discussion in this thread...

I agree... Besides (The date differences...):

From: https://www.abqjournal.com/1369494/c...consulate.html
"On Sept. 18, 1849, a year after the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo officially split Mexico from New Mexico, the Mexican senate decided to open a consulate in the now U.S. state to provide assistance and protection to Mexicans there.

Sánchez said 170 years later the Mexican Consulate maintains the same commitment to offer guidance and support to the Mexican and Mexican-American community in New Mexico.

She touted the friendship between the two countries and the accomplishments made over almost two centuries."

After almost three deplorable years of this clown in office, Hillary was proven correct as the whole world can see, except for the deplorables themselves -- which is part of what makes them deplorable. And given the "deplorable" hats and T-shirts they wear, they're proud of it.
