I know this is kind of early, but was planning a road trip to the Albuquerque area during my kids' winter break from school. I have two girls, aged 13 and 9, and was looking for potential activities on Christmas day. All the attractions that I've check in the Albuquerque area are closed on Christmas. Obviously, people like to stay home on the holidays, but wondering if something might be open. I know over here sometimes places like the Zoos, or Ripleys are open on such days. I am open to sites within a couple of hours of Albuquerque also.
Do you ski? Ski areas are generally open Christmas Day. If Sandia Peak (closest to Albuquerque) isn't yet open due to insufficient snow, Ski Santa Fe should be, the next closest. Our zoo will be closed.
You're right, there's tons of stuff to do here Christmas Eve, and not much Christmas day.
The 4 days of Christmas Feast celebrations at Acoma Pueblo, about an hour from Abq, are really interesting, lots of fun, and something you could only do in New Mexico. Christmas Eve is the really spectacular night there, too, when they light farolitos all the way up the steep mesa roads to the pueblo and have a midnight mass. Best to contact the Pueblo directly to get the schedule of events on Christmas itself. I think there are dances and open houses, and another Christmas mass. The website is http://www.acomaskycity.org, but it seems to be down right now. This site gives contact info, too: https://www.newmexico.org/places-to-...coma-sky-city/ I've found calling to work better with pueblos than emailing.
There are also two big Christmas light displays that will be open Christmas night. One is the River of Lights at the zoo, the other is called Bugg Lights and it's at the Belen Harvey House Museum in Belen, about a half hour's drive from Abq.
And there's a Christmas day brunch at the Corn Maiden restaurant at the Tamaya Resort (again about half an hour from town). It might get kind of pricey, but that's the only place I know beside the Bucca di Beppo Italian chain restaurant and Denny's that's open Christmas day. If your kids like playing checkers or chess, there's a nice lounge area in the resort with tables set up for that, which I think you can use if you eat there.
One last thought is that you might want to email Old Town Ghost Tours and see if any of their guides would be interested in giving you and your kids a tour on Christmas. If so, please post here. Maybe I'll bring my niece if it's not too cold.

Unfortunately there isn’t a lot open. Main Event is open on Christmas. I met a bunch of people there last Christmas, kind of an “orphan’s holiday party” for people who didn’t have family locally (or at all...) It was surprisingly busy. I think part of the group headed over to a movie afterwards. In the past Chopstix restaurant on Lomas was open, and hard to get a seat because of everyone wanting their Christmas Chinese food feast (Yeah, That’s a thing )
The Great Outdoors is always open, and pretty spectacular hereabouts.
Santa Ana, Kewa and Tesuque Pueblos all have dances on Christmas Day. Not that I would typically recommend a casino for a kiddo destination, but some Casinos have buffets or seated meals on Christmas Day.
Also, I think the Sandia Tram May be open on Christmas.
