The last thread I found was a bit outdated and I see from google maps that a lot of development has occurred since then and I want to get a real feel for the area with locals who live there or close to it, what are your thoughts pertaining to school and family?

Thanks!

I don't live there, but I generally avoid the south valley/southwest side. Definitely higher crime out there although being on the west side of the river mitigates that some. General rule of thumb is the further north you go the safer it is (and more expensive).
