We're looking at possibly moving to River's Edge - worried about snakes, scorpions, centipedes, etc. if we purchase something a block or so away from the river. Can anyone share experiences as to what and if so, how many, unwanted guests will be in the back yard and house?
I get that it is New Mexico and they are out there - just want to know if it's a lot, a little or none at all. We have been in Albuquerque NE Heights for 4 years and have never had a single thing other than a few spiders.
You might want to ask about mosquitoes. I don't live in River's Edge but do live by the river in ABQ. The mosquitoes are getting increasingly worse near the river especially with the arrival of Aedes aegypti in ABQ in 2018, the Yellow Fever mosquito that is an aggressive biter. Prior to 2017, the city would spray along the Bosque and in drainage ditches and this helped. There have been several articles about the increasing mosquito population on local news websites. Raccoons are also a nuisance, especially if you have fruit trees or put out bird feeders.
