Pres , is by far the better hospital . Stay away from Lovelace hospital they are not very good , it like a giant clinic not a hospital. shady billing practices by many third party companies that operate within Lovelace or on contract, it's billing nightmare. If your seen in the ER you will get a number of bills one from Lovelace and AlighMd . Lovelace and AlignMd will charge you separately for ER care. Not sure why they do that but there are many complaints to the insurance commission and attorney General of NM about it.

Best advice I can give is Google Lovelace and AlignMD and the other contractors whom work out of there hospitals .

My elderly friend was a member of Heart Hospital. He died last month from heart-related problems and spent a few weeks there before being released to hospice care.

His wife is upset with Heart, because the docs would not release her husband to the hospice facility. She claims they wanted to make money by keeping him there.

She says that ordinary care at Heart is adequate.

Someone mentioned in the Retirement forum that Medicare posts ratings of hospitals so I looked up the local hospitals. Presbyterian (#1 in state per US News and World Report) got a 3 star rating while St. Vincents in Santa Fe was rated 5 star. I would be skeptical of relying solely on the Medicare ratings in choosing a hospital.
