My wife and I, both in our late 50s, intend to begin a move into the Alegria active adult development in Bernalillo as soon as our house sells in Kentucky. I really like all the senior activities that are available thorugh the CABQ department of senior affairs. But we'll be living in Sandoval County. Does anyone know if seniors from outside Bernalillo County can participate in the CABQ senior activities? I can always call CABQ to find out but thought maybe some folks have already checked this out.
Thanks.
Thought I'd follow up my original post in case anyone's interested. Contacted both CABQ and RR, and found out both open up all their senior activities/facilities to anyone meeting the age requirments (55+ in RR, 50+ in CABQ) regardless of where you live.
I'm sorta new at looking into senior activities (I'm 58) so know little in comparison about what other places have, but in particular CABQ's Dept of Senior Affairs, their available facilities and scheduled activities seem really impressive. Another good draw, in addition to the weather and low cost of living, for active seniors looking for a good retirement place.
Thanks, Rich. I have looked at little at the RR senior website and activities that are held at the Meadowlark Senior Center. Intend to check out the senior activities both there and in ABQ once we relocate. We'll be semi-retired, me working 50% and my wife fully free to enjoy a life of leisure (except for continuing to hold the forces of entropy at bay in the constant house cleaning battle). So will have time for driving a little further to things in ABQ although closer is always better.
Got an offer on our house here in KY, countered and are waiting to hear hopefully by the end of today if we have a deal. If so, plan in being in the ABQ area by the end of next month!
