We know that Kohl's will be opening a store at the former Mervyn's space at Coronado Center, however, no store has announced plans to buy the former Mervyn's space at Cottonwood Mall. Kohl's of course is unlikely as already have a store nearby just to the north of Cottonwood Mall.

My vote is Fry's Electronics. It would be great to have one in Albuquerque, however, if they were to come, I would think they would maybe prefer the former Circuit City space near Best Buy.

Nah, too small. Nordstrom stores are HUGE! The same is true for Bloomingdale's.

What high end stores are missing? Ever since I moved up into the stick, I have gotten use to most of the chain stores. Footlockers, Target, Gap, JC Penny, etc. Gone are the days of Banana Republic, Tommy Hilfiger (soHo), and J Crew. I was never a big fan of Macys, Saks, Bloomingdale. I'm not even sure if there is a Nordstrom in NYC.

Really, the former Mervyn's space at Cottonwood Mall is too small for any such mega upscale deparment store. They would basically have to add a third floor to the structure. I believe that anchor store area is owned by Simon, who may not allow the addition of a third floor. I think only Sears and Dillard's are the two anchor store areas that are owned by the stores themselves.
