You always hear clear alcohol is less likely to give you a hangover than dark. For example vodka less likely than rum.

You also hear suggary stuff is more likely to give you a hangover.

Does that include mixers? What I mean is say I'm drinking vodka and coke, will i get a hangover because coke is both suggery and dark or is that only reffering to the alcohol when people say dark and suggary?

I love gin. What are some non suggary mixers I could have with gin. Going to a cocktail party / reunion this weekend and dont wnna feel bad sunday morning.

I know they say darker alcohol has more impurities and I'm assuming they mean in the liquore because otherwis ewouldn't people get hangovers from drinking lots of soda if it was just dark and sugar?

Congeners cause hangover - byproducts of fermentation in some alcohol. Dark alcohols have more of it than clear white. Now, mixing different congeners ( in mixed drinks) and combining the various impurities can result in particularly severe hangover symptoms
Drinking beer and liquor cause hangover too. Is the carbonation that speeds up the absorption of alcohol.
You can see often "cheap" drunks drinking beer and liquor for the fast "effect" of getting drunk.
Alcohol metabolism is even more toxic than alcohol itself - it is stored in liver and builds up in the body. Several chemical processes happen that prevent you from sleeping well the night after heavy drinking, cause stomach pain and nausea. The stomach pain tell your brain that you need to vomit and get rid of the toxins. It usually helps and you will feel better almost instantly. But stomach irritation often cause other unpleasant symptoms such as diarrhea and lack of appetite.

Gin gives the worst hangover. Juniper dehydrates the drinker.

You could just try drinking in moderation, staying hydrated and eating during the evening. If you don't get drunk you should feel fine the next day. If you plan on getting drunk you'll likely have a hangover no matter what you drink.
