I occasionally buy Sauvignon blanc by the case and it comes out to about $12 or less per bottle after a discount. When I buy Pinot Noir it's a bit more.

I am very particular about the wine I drink so I really don't pay attention to the price. I just as the clerk for a bottle of Boone's Farm and hand him or her my card.

That is an incorrect statement.

I used to drink a lot more during workweek a few yrs ago in my 20's but now i save it for 1 weekend night when i splurge & freely imbibe. When i'm chilling with friends who don't really care about wine I try to stay under $25, but if it's just me & the lady I don't mind popping the cork on more expensive bottles in the $35~$55 range and we sip & enjoy it the entire evening. And for low cost party bottles I tend to go for Cali zins, Southern italians (primitivo's & aglianico's), modern Spanish grenache/tempranillo blends and fruity French (Cote du Rhone, Beaujolais, Languedoc). If I'm drinking with serious winos, I go for more tannic acidic reds like Chateauneuf, Chianti Riservas, Nebbiolo's, Cali or other West Coast Pinots. I don't really drink much Cali Cabs or Bourdeaux or Burgundy.... they're in another price range altogether and I'm not making Goldman Sachs money.

Never more than $10 USD for a 1.5L bottle, US, Chilean or Australian usually.

I'll pay no more than $20.00 for a good bottle of wine
Pinot grigio brands I like are:
Santa Margherita
Giovello
Cavit
Barefoot
San Guiseppe
Yellow tail

Red's I buy are:
Yellow Tail Shiraz
Merlot
Cabernet Sauvignon

White Zinfandel:
Beringers

I am also open to other brands or suggestions from my local liquor store too.

What do you pay for the Yellow Tail Shiraz? We buy several Yellow Tail varieties, including Shiraz in 1.5ML bottles at Sam's Club for 9.48 to 9.98 depending on the variety. When the local grocery chain runs a sale it is typically 8.88 for a 1.5ML bottle.

Well I live in NY on Long Island and we cannot get alcohol in grocery stores, or a CVS NY is a communist state IMO, I cannot even get wine gift baskets shipped here I am forced to go to a local liquor store or costco and not all costco's have a liquor store. For yellow tail shiraz I have paid about $14.99 for the big bottle and $9.99 for the smaller one.

I like some of the same ones you like and the good thing is: ones like Yellow Tail and Beringers really are almost what would be considered inexpensive, same with Barefoot. That is why we almost always have a few bottles of those brands on hand...It does look like you pay more than we do for it though..as for even buying gift baskets we have the same problem here: We went to a winery in NV recently, we ordered 6 bottles and had to have them shipped to our granddaughter in Ok,she will bring them over to us when she comes in a couple of weeks. It used to be that way in Texas, but now you can have wine shipped to the state. Maybe there is hope for all of us....someday!!!
