But I'm just curious to know if any drinks ever call for Pepsi over coke. Or does it really not matter whether or not you use either one, or any cola for that matter.

Though truthfully, a Jack and R/C doens't sound right now does it?
I have never seen a recipe that actually says: --- and pepsi, but you certainly could use it: I just think we are so used to seeing - and coke, said any other way does sound a little weird.

I don't do soft drinks anymore, but yeah, Pepsi would make a good mixer for sweetness. Coke is a rougher soft drink than Pepsi, sweetness and flavor-wise.

I drink Southern Comfort and diet Pepsi, with ice. Like the taste of SC............ and Pepsi is my choice over any other type of cola.

Trivia bit.

In Quebec, here in Canada, back in the 30's, Pepsi made sure that all of their ads were in French, while coke was "English only " To this day, Pepsi out sells coke in Quebec by five to one. As a matter of fact , we jokingly call Quebecers "Pepsies " as a nick name.

Coke is pretty much a generic term. In many places someone will ask you if you want a "coke" and then ask you which kind. I have heard Sprite, Mtn Dew and other soft drinks referred to as coke in a generic way.

That is always how I have thought of these drinks. I am a Pepsi drinker too and I certainly would not buy Coke if I was inclined to make a rum and coke or pina colada or Jack and coke. I'd just use Pepsi.
