In some areas beverages like these are referred to as Alcopops. Sweet, alcoholic beverages resembling soft drinks which are targeted at young drinkers, and in this case, at young female drinkers. I can't see most young men buying these for themselves, but instead only for women.
This whole business of marketing gender specific beverages appears to be gaining steam on many fronts. Soft drinks with "only ten calories per serving" are tailored for men, who are somewhat turned off by the "Diet" label, which women prefer. Or how about this... one of the featured items I saw in a liquor store recently was a pink cranberry liquor, with hearts on the bottle, called "OR-G." Let me guess...
