Since its launch of Lime-A-Rita in 2012, Bud Light Lime has been churning out new Margarita-in-a-can flavors once a year. Flavors like Straw-Ber-Rita and Cran-Brr-Rita have all hit the grocery aisles. Looks like two new flavors are now being added to the Bud Light Lime family: Raz-Ber-Rita and Mag-O-Rita.

Brewed from a combination of barley malt, non-malted cereal grains and some light hopping before filtration, the drinks are then blended with Bud Light Lime and additional ingredients to make up the margarita flavor. Each can carries 8% alcohol per volume.

Sounds like something Joe Rogan would be forcing people to drink on Fear Factor.

In some areas beverages like these are referred to as Alcopops. Sweet, alcoholic beverages resembling soft drinks which are targeted at young drinkers, and in this case, at young female drinkers. I can't see most young men buying these for themselves, but instead only for women.

This whole business of marketing gender specific beverages appears to be gaining steam on many fronts. Soft drinks with "only ten calories per serving" are tailored for men, who are somewhat turned off by the "Diet" label, which women prefer. Or how about this... one of the featured items I saw in a liquor store recently was a pink cranberry liquor, with hearts on the bottle, called "OR-G." Let me guess...

I did have the lime a rita once. It was pretty good. Sounds kind of like the wine cooler phase at first.

How can they keep the Bud Light name on a 8oz 240+ calorie drink?
