For those such as myself who find beer to taste poorly and even low IBU beers like Weiss, Wits, and Hefeweizens to be tolerable at best give mead a try if you can find it. 0 IBUs, and it is made out of honey so it tastes pretty darn good. The Dead Guy company had one that is available in bottles and on draft, but mead is pretty hard to find in any form.
I never had mead before. I know it is a very old alcoholic beverage though so I'd be interested in giving it a go.
I once took a brewing class and somehow we got on the subject of mead and the instructor mentioned that it can give you a hell of a hangover if your not careful (something about the kinds of alcohol that are produced during fermentation).
Mead is a fermented honey wine. It has some taste characteristics similar to a stout ale - a yeasty aftertaste, in particular. It's a great table-wine kind of drink, to serve with Thanksgiving dinner, for example. But it's also a good choice at a bar, especially if you want to nurse your drinks awhile because it is absolutely fine to drink at room temperature.
