Probably around $200 for two of us at Gary Danko's in San Francisco. Champagne was $18.00 a glass and we each had 3 glasses plus what ever esle we ordered. That was just drinks, the meal itself was another $200!
On a business trip to San Fran ordered a VO and water and the guy I was with the same. Server came back and said they had no VO but offered another choice. Had a second round. Bill comes and it was $50 per drink. Ripped off. I have tended bar and waited tables and for the first time in my life I stiffed the server.
Totally server's fault. I would've stiffed him too. Did you leave a penny as an insult?
I learned the hard way too,,,years ago, if you bought a round,,,for 4-5 people,,,it wouldnt hurt so much,,,now, if a few have mixed drinks- it adds up quick,,
I remember taking my son to disneyworld when he was young,,we stayed at the disney sports hotel- I went to the outside bar in the late afternoon and was going to order a bud..it was 9.00!!! wtf?? I said i only wanted one,,,he said thats what they cost..
the "let's stop for a bite to eat, or a drink" rarely happens anymore....
work too hard..to throw away money like that
