Hi, I need some ideas. I'm throwing a party and having beer and wine, but also want to serve 2-3 more special cocktails. I can't afford to rent glass glasses and don't want to deal with that anyway, so the cups will all be plastic - nice, high-end plastic but plastic nonetheless. I know that margaritas would be ok. But all my fave cocktails are drinks that I just can't see in plastic glasses - like brandy alexander, dirty martini, french 75, sidecar. What do people think? Maybe a Moscow Mule, Whiskey Sour? other ideas?
I just don't want things to look tacky. I guess I just can't see a martini in a plastic, regular drink cup looking good. Any other ideas out there? Thanks!

yeah - any of the clear drinks with a garnish would look OK ..... I don't think a martini would "look" bad as it wouldn't look much different than clear drink, but I think our norms are such that it would feel out of place
the choices above are all pretty good
could look at drinks that have differen color features
you'll also know the tastes of yourself and your guests
A Blue Hawaiian will give a good color that you can contrast with fun garnish
If you layer a Dark & Stormy it will look nice and you can garnish with a simply bit of lime - it will mix as you drink it, but would look good in the glass layered and then simply turn dark
You could also make some kind of Rum Punch, Sangria, etc - they tend to have a good color, garnish, taste good and would look perfectly in place with a plastic cup
This is the way I look at the situation, you can have a plastic cup or it could be BYOB. You decide....
I throw a big brunch at my house and I serve mimosas in plastic cups. I do prefer these since they have a nice grip to them.
I agree - a martini in a plastic cup just doesn't seem right!
