Check out Three Wishes from Whole Foods which is priced at $2.99 and comes in Chardonnay, Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon. I've served it many times to friends who were blown away by the quality for the price.

A more under the radar pick is Hayes Ranch (a second label from Wente) which makes a very nice Chardonnay or Cabernet Sauvignon for around $8. Hayes Ranch - California Wine with a Western Spirit

The muscadet from Domaine de la Pepiere is literally one of my favorite white wines, for the price it's fantastic. Usually around $12.

DOMAINE DE LA PEPIERE Marc OLLIVIER, Rémi BRANGER, Gwénaëlle CROIX

Pretty cool, I will have to check the WFs one out, they also have one called everyday red that's around 8 bucks, it's a decent blend.

I rarely drink wines, but you can get some amazing organic fair trade sweet ones as well as some crackling good ports and pretty cheap as well

I agree, I've had my fair share of wine and I can't understand why people like it. I can taste the steel silos they use to brew it in and the oak chips they put in it as well as preservatives. I guess it takes someone that actually brews to understand these things. Cheap wines are cheap for a reason, there are proper techniques to producing some stellar wine, such as malo lactic fermentation.

Cabernet Sauvignon- Chateau St. Michelle. About $13-15 / bottle, depending where you buy it.

You wouldn't want a secondary fermentation on many varietals. In many cases it's a cop out for using poor quality fruit and not doing the job right the first time around.
