Check out Three Wishes from Whole Foods which is priced at $2.99 and comes in Chardonnay, Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon. I've served it many times to friends who were blown away by the quality for the price.

I agree, I've had my fair share of wine and I can't understand why people like it. I can taste the steel silos they use to brew it in and the oak chips they put in it as well as preservatives. I guess it takes someone that actually brews to understand these things. Cheap wines are cheap for a reason, there are proper techniques to producing some stellar wine, such as malo lactic fermentation.

You wouldn't want a secondary fermentation on many varietals. In many cases it's a cop out for using poor quality fruit and not doing the job right the first time around.
Currently drinking Beringer Merlot myself. I think it was $15 for the bottle.
Got it this evening for $5.29.... Honestly true! Original price around $9.0From Ingles. Don't know which year though.
Ps. Yes, I'm drinking it....
