OK, my friends and I usually attend a beach music festival on an annual basis in the summer. This is one of those events where it is BYOB, and in the past, we would mix up a big batch of something and bring it with us. Well, for the last few years, we've kind of gotten lazy and kind of gotten tired of the same ol' recipe, so we've been just bringing beer with us. But this year, I'm kind of wanting to mix up something different, because this might be the last year I get to go (baby on the way and all!) What are your favorite summer time mixed drinks? Something that you can mix up in bulk (because we can't mix it there and can't bring glass with us.)

I was going to say gin and tonic, but I'm not really sure that's something you want to pre-make.

Margaritas?

Margaritas.

In the wine family, vinho verde (less doable if glass containers are a no-no) or sangria.

How about a vodka slush? It won't stay slushy all day in the cooler ... in the hot sun ... but it'll stay cold in a big plastic tub packed with ice for a long time. Bring an ice cream scoop.

Sangria is a good idea, too. And that even rhymes.

If you want to go old school, whip up a mini-batch of hairy buffalo. Bonus: You get to eat the fruit after it's been sitting in booze all day. Refreshing!

I don't drink many mixed drinks, prefer beer and bourbon on the rocks. But if there is one summer drink I will whip up a batch for a party it's a Paloma. More popular south of the border than Margaritas are. Simply add tequila to grapefruit soda (like Squirt), add a wedge of lime and you are good to go.

In the boat, I take along vodka and lemonade. It's not as tasty, but Minute Maid makes a 15 calorie lemonade in a thick plastic container. Pour yourself a small glass and drink, leaving room for your vodka. If you want to, you can do the math and decide how many ounces of vodka per ounces of lemonade you'd like. Put that in your cooler with a zip lock bag of ice cubes and a couple plastic cups and you're good to go!

Mojito.

The only alcoholic drink I have ever found to be actually refreshing.
