Islay, smoky: Ardbeg 10, ~$55

West Highland, sweeter: Oban 14, ~$70

The best blended I've had is The Black Grouse, which is a smoky, peated version of Famous Grouse.

Laphroaig 10 - the original islay peat monster.

Aberlour A'bundah -A cask strength sherry bomb.

Flaming Heart - A great malt blend from a great forward thinking distillery Compass Box.

Those are a few but there are so many good ones that you just have to see what floats your boat.

If you want something different you could bring a bottle of Speyburn single malt that's not 'scotchy' at all.

Highland Park 12 year. A great single malt for the price (around $40).

If you want to spend a little more, I always recommend Glenmorangie 18 year. It is around $100 and is my go-to for gifts, special occasions, etc.

so thanks to the coronavirus apocalypse, we have been doing more things at our house and friend's houses. this has meant that i have been drinking some more whiskey since its not the kind of thing id other when we are out.

i actually had that highland park 12 year recently and i noticed that it tasted like i was drinking a cigar. i am told that this is "peatiness." so i find "peatiness" disgusting.

anyway, i am here to see what people like and i dont want a hint of peatiness.
