We were given a nice bottle of claret, and I thought is was a dessert wine, but I'm not sure.

Didn't realize anyone in US still called Bordeaux red "claret". Figured that went out with the Tories :-)

There's a bar/pool hall here called the Claret Club. Which is funny, given that I don't believe they serve any alcohol that's not tapped from a keg.

I just read the label more carefully. Its a Coppola Black Label Claret, 2012, and underneath it says (Cabernet Sauvignon type). so I get it now. In the words of Emily Litella, "Never mind."
Thanks, all.

Ooh, someone gave us a bottle of that as a gift. I loved it. We wait for it to go on sale. And the bottle is so pretty, I always hate to throw it out (for recycling).
