Love porters and stouts so I broke down and bought a 4-pack of their stout. Just out of curiosity picked up a 4-pack of their BB ale too. ABV is listed as 11.8% for the stout and 11.2% for the ale. Malt liquor territory. Pricey at $29.99 for the stout and $19.99 for the ale.

Any of you guys try either of these? Opinions, please.

Backwoods is one of the best scotch ales made. My preference is to Backwoods Bastard over KBS but both are good beers. I will also say that $30 is way too much for KBS. If you've never had it before and can't find a single bottle or on draft I can kinda understand paying that much, but otherwise that's way too much IMO. It's usually around $19-$20 here. $20 is normal for Backwoods though.

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised by BB; enjoy it as much as KBS. The outlet I found these puts premium prices on most of their stock. Need to scope out RiteAid to see if they carry KBS.

Love Founders products, the breakfast stout is great, the Sumatra Mountain is also great. They have a seasonal imperial stout that next time it comes out, I am going to stock up. I am a fan of their products, good stuff, I always keep a supply at home. It is one of my favorite brands overall.

OUCH! The 4 pack is $15.95 at my local Lowes Foods.

It's Ok but for me I taste a little too much of the barrel it's aged in that conflicts with the stout taste, I want to try their breakfast stout that isn't aged in bourbon barrels.
