Menage a Trois is a very good wine (they have a white blend now also FYI) but I hadn't seen for less than about $12...will have to check Target (of all places). Ditto the "Tatoo" wines.
Sorry I think Ecco Domain was not very good at all.
Beringer puts out some respectable wines in the $6-8 range.
And IMO if you pay more than about $10 for a Merlot, you probably overpaid. It's hard to mess up a Merlot.

Rite Aid is the secret place to get wine or beer on sale!!! They have my fave gerwurztraminer, as well as all the other nice whites & some reds. It's worth it to try the dry reisling if you don't usually like dry wines (like myself). It's a pleasant surprise.
St. Michelle & Ste. Chapelle are the low priced but acceptable brands.
Trader Joe's is okay but Rite Aid is still the best kept secret of low priced party supplies.

Good topic. Tons of good-to-great wine out there for modest prices and I rarely pay more than $12-15 for a bottle of wine, often less. Let the pompous snoots overpay.
I can get Menage a Trois at Costco for about $9 and it's an excellent red blend.
I would also nominate some of Beringer's wines (forget which offhand, been awhile - I think their Pinto Grigio was pretty good).
Chateau Morrisette (sp?) makes a reliable Reisling (although a bit sweeter than I'd prefer) for about $10 give or take.
IMO Yellowtail has gone downhill in recent years, but their Merlot and Cabs are pretty good. In fact, there are various solid Merlots and Cabs out there for under $10 (hard to mess those up IMO).
