Default Burt's Bees

I'm allergic to Almay and Clinique and all the rest.
Are Burt's Bees lipsticks for sale in stores?

Lipstick that I'm Not Allergic To -- YEA!

I have now found a lipstick I can wear without allergy. It's NYC brand and is sold at Walmart and Rite-Aid and possibly other stores. There are lots of colors and the cost is under $2.00. Can't beat that!

I tried Burt's Bees gel stick. It was a very pretty color and looked nice, but it had a menthol type flavor to it that itched me.

Good idea here. I use organic deordorant, but, while one brand may be great and cause no problems, one can(and did) give me a bad under arm rash.

It's important to note, that organic doesn't mean you won't be allergic to it. Many allergens are organic, including honey, raw milk, wool, olives, nuts, berries, pollen, etc. etc. etc. In fact, most allergens -are- all natural and not synthetic, since there are more natural substances in the world than there are synthetic substances in the world. Gold is also organic and is a common allergen, as is nickel.

So that organic lipstick could cause someone to break out in a horrible rash, while the mineral-oil based artificial food-grade cosmetic tinted crap in CVS wouldn't so much as cause an allergic person to squint.

Also, be wary of anything claiming that it's "hypoallergenic." It doesn't really have any meaning, since anyone -can- be allergic to anything, and anything -can- be an allergen to -someone-. "Dermatoligist tested" is another phrase to just plain dismiss. Think about that phrase - it was tested by a dermatologist. Did it pass the test? Strange - the phrase doesn't say dermatologist-approved. Only tested. Also consider the phrase "truth in advertising," then ask yourself why it's only claiming that it was "tested."

Burt's Bees is owned by Clorox, which I personally don't find reassuring.

I would definitely go the health store route. I bet you get a lot of hits in Google with "organic lipstick."

Clorox also owns Brita water filtration systems, and Greenworks "green" cleaning products. I find that very reassuring.

I have found a lipstick that is less allergy causing than most these days. (The NYC lipstick formula was changed and now it itches a lot and causes chapping.)

But the new one is Boots Nottingham UK Moisture Drench lipstick at Target. It is a British product and can be bought on-line. Ordering from UK pricing is listed in pounds, so is more expensive. I think it can also be ordered from Target for $7.99. A number of nice colors. It's not as creamy as other lipsticks I've used, but it stays on fairly well.
