I am concerned, and I hope that someone might have some answers out there.
A friend of mine is having what the ER diagnosed as "severe" allergies to mosquito bites. These bites have caused noticeable swelling in his hands and arms and are infected from scratching. Anitbiotics were given, only to have him come down with chest cold like symptoms after a few days on the antibiotics. More antibiotics were given.
This doesn't seem to be solving the problem as I just talked to him and he sounds awful. Does anyone have any input? What type of doctor (allergist?) should he see? He says he is up at night scratching and keeps getting bitten more and more. He uses Off! in all of its incarnations and it doesn't help. Does anyone have any advice?
I would suggest looking into monthly allergy shots and seeing an OD or ENT (I'm a nurse, if you tell me the area they live in, I may be able to find some listings for you)
