I am hoping (fingers crossed) this is asthma or at worse bronchiectasis-related.
Yesterday as I spent a long day driving I had a recurrence of some sharp pain I had been having episodically over the last week. I used my albuterol inhaler, waited a couple of minutes and induced coughing. The cough was productive. The pain stopped but it would come back within an hour, so I repeated the inhaler. 4x total during the afternoon before it let up for good.
We know that asthma can cause chest pain, which is sometimes scary for people who experience it for the first time. And I wouldn't be surprised if the thick, sticky mucous created by my deformed airways can cause pain as well. I've just never experienced it before.
Peak flow readings this morning after using salt water nebulizing solution: 380, 420, 400. Pretty normal.
One thing I do not need is another pneumonia. Yes, I'm seeing my pulmonologist when I get home.
Wish I knew more about it, but definitely see your dr about it of course. Right as I turned 42 in 2017, I developed some kind of respiratory condition out of the pure blue without ever having any kind of allergies, sinus, or respiratory issues ever in my life.
The very 1st thing I felt after waking up one day is what felt like sharp lower back pain. That was the start of it ALL. I went to the ER in a few days after that to get diagnosed with viral bronchitis at the time. The meds they prescribed at the ER didn't really help. I quickly got a pulmonologist referral & have seen him about 5-7 times since the start of this all.
Thank God I never ever had back/lung pain ever again after that 1st & only time. Keep us posted on what it is!

If the pain responds to a bronchodilator, is probably is related to your asthma and bronchiectasis. But seeing your pulmonologist ASAP is a very good idea!

Thanks, I did go see him.
He listened to my lungs and gave me a thumbs-up. I haven't had a recurrence of that pain.
