I support her claim. I am 34 yrs old. I have never been a "drinker" last year in August I became allergic, to everything. Every food, and every allergen on the environmental panel. Some say it could be mast cell activation syndrome. I am terrified of epipens because I'm chemical sensitive (and they dont always work ya know). Anyway. I am allergic to wine, beer and anything else with sulfites. There is one brand of tequila that is from blue agave that I tried on a whim one night. I had been reacting all week and one night had a shot. I hate epipens, My heart cant take it and I have been antidrug/meds for years now. About 15 minutes after the shot, all of my blood vessels dialate, wheezing and inability to breathe went away, my allergic induced sleep apnea went away and absence seizures do not progress.

I've done it a few times when I am having really hard anaphylaxis days.

This lady is telling the truth. I no longer destroy my immune system and adrenals with daily steroids.

Sincerely,

Not in denial, it works, (with one kind of liquor for me)

Have you tried the usual MCAS meds? I'd be worried about relying on one kind of alcohol to treat reactions, because if you do have MCAS, you're likely to start reacting to that alcohol at some point. The meds for MCAS don't prevent reactions, but they make them less severe.

I agree with the previous poster - alcohol can help with allergies - for me it will help with my eyes in under 30 minutes. The following day I may sneeze a lot due to the higher levels of histamine associated with alcoholic drinks. I have really bad allergies and struggle to control these with anti-histamines and mast cell stablizers. I've literally spent the last decade trying every single eye drop and prescription to help. I've tried steroids and immunosuppression as well and basically nothing works to a standard that makes my life normal. I've also tried loads of natural herbal products and spent tens of thousands of hours reading journal articles, blog posts, and seen countless specialists. Literally I feel like giving up. But I do know that often alcohol will help with my allergies (at least the conjunctivitis - my eyes may still be red but they are less painful and my eyes can stop blinking excessively). Previously olopatadine (dual mast cell stablizer / anti-histamine) eye drops would work for a couple hours but then stopped working in 2016. Of course I don't drink most days as alcohol has a lot of negatives and would not advise people in the work place to drink either. But yes, alcohol helps with my allergies in the very short term - most likely reason is that alcohol is a pain reliever, and slows nerve contraction down (glutamate antagonist [blocker]). Allergy is associated with itching and less muscle contracting means less itching and nerve irritation. This is most likely to be noticeable for people with allergic eye as there are more nerves there. This could also be re-inforced by alcohol also helping reduce anxiety.
