Really became full blown four week's ago. Runny/Stuffed nose and ear pain. Then about a week in bloody noses so far 8-10, last one Monday night. Turned into a cold with aches, fever, muscle pain, throat pain, and so forth.
After five day's cold is mostly gone. However, wake up at night dry scratchy throat difficult to breathe. Been having ear pain on and off. So far had current headache for 2 day's. Feeling exhausted waking up been having vivid weird dreams. Now having the feeling in a fog and my memory feeling off having trouble remembering names. Last night couldn't.remember if closed my door or not really off.
I am trying to avoid the walk due to copay fees and have a physical with my new Doc at the end of the month.
Been taking 20mg of Zrytec and 30mG to 60mG of Pseudoephedrine. Add on Dayquill/Nyquill didn't take the Sudafed then because had Pseudoephedrine HCI in it. Add on taking 800mG-1200mG ADVIL a day. Plus mix in herbal tea and 5mG of melatonin if I can't sleep at night. Also saline nasal spray at times to help the nose at times and Vicks Vapor Rub if gets down to the chdst, which it does.
Best two allergy medications for me are Allegra and Claritin. Normally I can't use generic medicines but the generic over the counter brand (Simply Right) of Claritin (loratadine) from Sam's Club works well for me. It's a little more than $13, including taxes, for 400 pills.
BTW, T tried Zyrtec and Nyquil and neither helped me at all.
Allegra D really helps me. It seems to help my asthma, too. In fact, I have been puffing on my inhaler as my asthma has been acting up several times a day, and since I took Allegra D thismorning, haven't had to use it once.
Allergies do NOT turn into a cold - just try different allergy meds. (give them some time) to see which work best (maybe you need allergy shots?) - I can't do a neti pot (I have a huge gag reflex) but some really swear by it.
I might try Allegra...Claritin knocks me out makes me feel drowsy, be good to take at night.
You probably used Claritin D. I can't use that. When I tried I couldn't even walk a straight line. Probably a blood pressure issue that makes it incompatible for me, but it can also make a person drowsy. Regular Claritin is what I have used for a couple decades. My body's so used to Claritin I'd switch to a generic version of Allegra if it was price competitive with Claritin.
As someone else said allergies don't turn into colds, so if you have a cold it's probably unrelated.
