Red clover tea. But you have to run it by your doctor to make sure it will not cause complications with medications or health issues.

I used to have allergies to grass pollen.
I used Homeopathic allergy remedies.
I had to take them every 4 hours--which was the same as I'd have to take in decongestants.
The results were the same without the bad effects of the chemical, and it didn't over dry me.
You can get them in liquid or in little white pills.
They Do work.

Use the neti pot to flush pollen out of your nasal passages. Use an allergy air filter. Wash your hair every day to get it out.

Have you guys tried yoga ? Pranayam? The breathing exercises? - Try that out - Will take a month or so to see the effects - But worth giving a try.

I always get spring and fall allergies - I did the following 2009 Fall

1) I have been doing Yoga (15-20 min early morning) for the past 2 months and this year I never got ragweed allergies - Last year fall(2008 fall) season was terrible for me - Congestion, Itchy nose and watery eyes - Few nights i couldn't breathe well - I had to get antibiotics medications. But this year has been very good. Many people whom I know are suffering this year as well (All living in suburbs of Chicago) - So its not that we are having a low allergy season. I want to see how I deal with next spring pollens...

2) Also try local honey (It has to be local and raw honey, unpasteurized) You should find it in your town's farmers market...

3) I also take 3 grams of vitamic-C everyday...1gm pill in the morning, afternoon and late night..

4) Try to make sure that you are breathing is always from your nose (obviously if your nose is not congested). Many times your throat gets infected coz of excess breathing from mouth. And many people don't realise that they breathe from the mouth instead of nose. Try to breath into your chest and not stomach - Doing yoga will make sure the breathing is not shallow but deep - Deep breathing helps coz it provides more oxygen to all the cells of your lungs.

5) Did neti-pot sinus rinsing whenever i felt itchyness or slight mucus in the nose. You can get a neti-pot in any pharmacy store.

6) Lastly, improve the eating habits - eat less processed, refined and oily foods. Cut down on sugar and alcoholic drinks...Try to eat raw red onion everyday along with your meal.(as a part of your salad).

You can google all this and find more information as well - But Yoga - kapalabhati Pranayam and anulom vilom pranayam are the key...

I just hate taking Claratin, Zrtyac and all those 24 hour relief pills....

This year - Spring 2010 -

1) Doing Yoga Breathing exercises every day twice (morning and evening - 10-15min each)-
2) Local and Raw Honey (2 tablespoon)
3) Neti Pot - everytime after coming back home (indoors) after being outdoors for a while.
4) Vitamin C 2gms
5) Totally staying away from refined food (refined flour, refined sugar, fried food)). Trying to eat healthy stuffs.

Haven't been hit with pollen yet this time - Last weekend was out almost 4 hours (Fri, Sat and Sun) everyday doing spring cleanup of the leaves and dead shrubs...Got home, Neti Pot and shower. Its been good so far. Hopefully its as good as 2009 fall.

No Claratin yet !

When I lived in the New York area I used to suffer terribly from Oak and Maple pollen. The OTC remedies did nothing for me so my doctor put me on prescription Allegra which worked really well.
