Well I went to the clinic for my allergy shots. I get one shot in each arm. My serum contains mould, dust mites, trees, pollen, ragweed and grass.
A nurse gave me a shot this time. I waited for 1/2 hour. I went home and about 1 hr later my hands started itching uncontrollably. Then my chest broke out in hives, my face and neck turned red and I had a huge hive on my neck.
I went back to the clinic and they took me right in. The Dr. gave me a shot of benadryl checked my heart rate, throat lungs and BP. The benadryl wasn't helping so he gave me a shot of epinephrine.
As soon as the shot went in I felt my heart punding in my chest like it was going to jump out of my chest. I felt jittery and really strange. The Dr. had me lie down for 15 minutes. After that I was ok.
Has anyone else experienced this? This is my second reaction. My first reaction was not as severe. Should I just stop the allergy shots all together. What if the next reaction is even worse. I don't know what to do. I'm on these shots to try and help with me severe recurrent sore throats

I would discuss stopping the shots with another doctor (your allergist has at least the appearance of a conflict of inter$t )
I would be VERY concerned that the next reaction will be even worse than this one. The fact that your doc gave you epinephrine shows that even s/he thought it was serious.

I can see what you mean about the money. Good point. The serum cost me 400.00. Thanks for the reply.
I would worry that the reaction is escalating. Maybe the serum is too strong? Normally allergy shots start out at VERY low concentrations, so this doesn't happen.
I did the allergy shots as well. To my dismay I had the same reaction you did. I was furious as my insurance did not cover the shots. (Stupidly I did not investigate first). They can dillute (sp?) the shots so it may not have the same effect. For me, that also did not work.
Of course I found out when I was tested I was allergic to many things. I had a severe reaction from the allergy test and should never have been put on shots.
Talk to your doctor, you may be able to continue.
If you can afford it I highly recommend finding someone who deals with allergies as a homeopath. My GF has done it and it made all the difference. She barely has any effects from her allergies. You do have to pay out of pocket, and it is quite expensive.
