I've been taking Enbrel for 10 years plus. This stuff is worth it's weight in gold (and more expensive). I'm retiring in a matter of days and the best insurance I can find pays only 75% of the cost (you loose the manufactures assistance when you go on a govt. plan - Medicare). I flat out can't afford it.
Since I've been on it sometimes I almost forget that I have RA and am almost in a panic because I remember what it was like before.
My Rheumatologist says there is an alternative that involves a monthly office visit for an injection that is covered by Medicare, but I haven't been able to learn much about it through web searches, etc. Plus it'll require my 2 visits a year (since starting Enbrel) to 12..
Wondering what others have done, if they've been in this situation . There are other drugs that I won't take because side effects are worse than the benefit - prednisone for one, and Plaquenil.
