I'm parking this article here.

An Overview on Ashwagandha: A Rasayana (Rejuvenator) of Ayurveda

It seems to affect gaba (as does everything that helps me to sleep) and it helps with OA and has even been found to help with alzheimers. Is calming, anti cancer, etc. Quite a long article but packed with information.

Other articles that I looked at credit it for helping fibromyalgia and CFS--and more.

^nice link. It looks like it could help if the underlying cause of insomnia is stress or anxiety. I hope you find some relief. I can only imagine how bad chronic insomnia must be.

I read that Vitamin C helps to lower cortisol so I've started taking it before bed. So far so good.

Did you try glycine?

If all else fails, the herb, Lady's Slipper will put you to sleep. Though it's a bit rare. Still, I saw it on amazon

It also supports the adrenal glands, which deals with stress. Vitamin B's and adaptogenic herbs will also support the adrenals.

Looks good. I heard vitamin B5 in particular helps support the adrenals.

Vitamin C as well, but be careful because most of the pill form stuff on the market may be quite impotent. When I was in chem lab years ago, we tested ascorbic acid (synthesized Vit. C) as it reacted to light/moisture/temperature. In nearly every case, it's exposure to these elements completely reduced its potency.

Food sources are always best since the body can digest it easiest. The highest food sources include Amla (indian gooseberry) and Acerola cherry. Anyhow. the adrenal gland gets Vitamin C priority over the bodies other glands/tissues.

I've just changed my Melatonin dose to 1/4mg from 1/2mg.

Also, since I posted this I'm off Ibuprofen due to it's elevating Blood Pressure. Before I hit pillow I take 2 arthritis tylenol.

jaminhealth,
are you aware of the possible link between the ingredient in tylenol and cognitive impairment?

I would not take it on a regular basis..

(I can't afford any more impairment.
