if it helps with depression. I was taking Lexapro, but the depression was getting worse and I told my Doctor I needed to be on something else. I have taken Lexapro for the last 3 years and it was fine at first but for the last year I felt like I was steadily getting worse. I just thought I couldn't get pass deaths in the family etc and this is what was causing it.
I became convinced if I moved I would feel better, looked daily at places to move too. I was beginning to suffer from anxiety, it just didn't make sense. I worried about things that made no sense.
Finally i decided I need to talk to my Doctor before I drove my family crazy about moving. My Dr. said I needed to be off Lexapro for 2 weeks before I could start a new depression medication. I was worried I was going to crash , depression would be even worse. But strangely I feel so much better. I have been off now 4 days and I feel better than I ever have. The only difference is the black seed oil, which I have been taking for allergies, asthma.
If I still feel better in 2 week time frame I am not going to start the new anti depressant medication I will wait and see at least 30 days . If it continues to be fine I am not going to take the prescription.
I take black seed oil/cumin seed, but for opening up my lungs and airwaves. I have heard it touted for so much more. In that case, as long as it seems to be working for you, I'd keep taking it. It can't hurt. And it's very easy to grow if you live in the right place. It can get expensive buying the oil, and I'm a pretty frugal guy. It is commonly called 'Love in a mist.'. You could top your oatmeal or cereal with the seeds. Good luck to you cp102.
I hear nothing but good things about this Oil. And yes people drizzle over foods...and for me I use it mostly on my arthritic knee. On the depression, one can't think enough about a sluggish thyroid and depression. I was there for 10 yrs...
I'm getting ready to buy another bottle of Black Seed Oil...it's necessary in my life...I've used so much and finally can get down to what really helps.
There are MANY sites for black seed oil and depression.

If that is the case then I'm assuming that black seed oil must have a therapeutic activity to cause GABA receptors to upregulate. I know that Niacin can do that. I would be curious what happens if you take a little bit of black seed oil and then drink a few beers. I know with slow release niacin it causes the GABA effect of alcohol to be much pronounced (I speak from experience).
I've heard it's good for gut health and gut health plays a big factor in depression.
