Im Puerto Rican born n raised on the island.. I just moved to ny and I dont like it.. Im looking to move to a place outside America, that is very similar to my homeland Puerto Rico.. Ive been to Dominican Republic once with my wife, shes Dominican, and its a wonderful place.. I was just wondering how big is the Puerto Rican community in the Dominican Republic... I read sumwere that its around 15,000 but I jus wanna kno for sure from the natives.. and what part of DR do most Ricans live?
I kno theres like 80,000 Dominicans in PR compared to like 10,000 Puerto Ricans in DR.. I jus wanna kno what part of DR do most Puerto Rican-Dominicans live in? Im guessin Santo Domingo but I just wanna kno for sure.. Thanks for the book thou it may help
My 2 cents, Puerto Rico is the lesser of 2 evils. I know this because I'm from Puerto Rico like you, and my dad's children are Dominican and Santo Domingo is pretty poor and outside of it is 3rd world

Did you work there? I did, when the exchange rate was 17 pesos on the dollar, and the young guys I interviewed there would have killed to make $30.00 a day. The hotel penthouse suite I stayed in on George Washington Ave. (tourist strip) in Sto. Domingo cost our company $75.00 a night in the middle of the season. I had to teach the manager of the welding gas provider for us to screw the safety caps onto the acetylene tank valve heads before he loaded the stuff on our trucks. When we brought equipment in from Puerto Rico, the customs officials would weave and waffle for graft before they let us take it off the dock...
Puerto Rico is now ravaged by this past hurricane and is now recieving very lil help from the US government. Hundreds of Thousands want to leave but very few planes leaving PR. Puerto Rico was in the middle of the eye of a catergory 5, which later went in a Northwest ward direction n merely skirted past the northern coast of DR.
Do you think many will start to look at tge Dominican Republic as a option?? I think atleast 10,000 ethnic Puerto Ricans will move there from PR by the end of the decade (2020), not counting some Dominicans who may move back from PR.

Puerto Ricans are American citizens...they will go to the mainland...no reason to go to DR unless they are going there as investors
