I'm going on a 18-day cruise on October 27th.

3 days NYC, NY
1 day Everglades, Florida
1 day Cartagena, Colombia (i just heard they changed it, used to be Ocho Rios, Jamaica)
1 day Cristobal-Panama City, Panama
1 day Puerto Limon, Costa Rica
1 day Cozumel, Mexico
2 days Miami, Florida

other 8 days i will be on sea of course.

When i heard they changed it from Jamaica to Colombia i was kinda worried.
With all these travel warnings for Colombia is it save to walk alone in Cartagena?
does anyone have a idea why they changed it? Is it dangerous in Jamaica at the moment?

When I visited Cartagena, Colombia in 2009 I was attacked in the street the first day I was there. They broke my collar bone and I could barely move my body for a month. I couldn't find any police even though I was in the tourist area.

No matter what anyone tells you, Colombia is NOT safe!

An acquaintance of mine has just related that her son went last Monday to the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to enroll as a freshmen, and she got a call Wednesday that he had been beaten and was in the hospital, and she rushed to Windsor.

No matter what anyone tells you, Canada is not safe.

"All those travel warnings for Colombia" were years ago, and the situation has improved considerably. I would feel a lot safer in Colombia than in Jamaica, these days.

...which is probably why they switched from Jamaica to Colombia. But if you are worried about it, just stay on the ship that day. You won't be alone there.
