it goes into the history of some different migrations within Haiti.

are there any expats who have been to Haiti or living in Haiti who find it hard to become part of Haitian society and culture?

Many of the auto dealerships in Haiti are owned by Syrian/Lebanese Christians whose families came over early in the twentieth century.

yeah the documentary goes into that a little. many of the first middle eastern migrants came to Haiti for religious freedom under the ottoman empire.
many christian middle eastern families just wanted to be able to have their religious and cultural freedom and Haiti allowed that and offered much opurtunnity being there were so few business in the country.
this gave them a chance to start new businesses on a small budget.
the christian middle eastern migration to Haiti has not stopped.
there are still Lebanese moving in and becoming citizens.

Some Polish legionnaires were sent to Haiti by Napoleon to fight off the slave rebellion that would be known as the Haitian Revolution. Some of the Polish legionnaires deserted Napoleon and fought on the side of the slaves. Some stayed and mixed with the Black population.
