Price not an option.

I think I would go with floripa or somewhere nearby. I love SC.

Northeast would be next. I would probably check out Fortaleza and some of those desert beaches too.

Somewhere between Porto Alegre and Rio de Janeiro.
Crime (Homicide-) rates on the coasts North of Rio are just way to high.

I've spent some time around Buzios / Cabo Frio and never noticed any big crime issues. Buzios is about 100 km northwest of Rio, a quick and easy bus trip. Although it is a crowded place during peak vacation season (Jan-Mar), it is pretty relaxed the rest of the year.

Yeah i mean more North than that.
Talking about the entire coast of Brazil between the cities of Belem and Vitoria.
Pernambuco had the highest homicide rate of all Brazilian states each year between 1998 and 2005, Alagoas was number 1 in 2007 and 2008.

Espirito Santo has always been in the top 3 states by homicide rate since 1998, Bahia's murder rate has been rising each year since 1999.

And only 0.000001% of all the thousands of foreign expats who live on the Brazilian coast north of Rio have ever been mugged, or been killed, or been victim of any violent crime.

Amazing how "crime is too high", but no one can mention the actual cases of foreign expats ever being victim of violent crimes. And there is no lack of "potential victims", since there are thousands of foreign expats living north of Rio (mostly Europeans).

Facts are facts.

Rio Grande Do Sul has terrible beaches, although the women at the beaches are amazing. I wouldnt go south of SC if I were you.

I think once you get outside of the cities the small beaches anywhere in Brazil can be nice. I doubt Porto De Galinas or Modo Sao Paulo has a high murder rate.

The murder rate of victims not involved with drug trafficking in Fortaleza is almost zero.

I said it more than once here before, and I will say it again: if you are not involved with drug trafficking, it's almost impossible for you to get murdered in Fortaleza (and I guess that's true for most of the cities in Northeast Brazil).

Of course some cases of murder of people not involved with criminal life happen some times. But that's also true for any city in the world.

Santa Catarina is a most, but the climate isnt the best: cold during winter and some rainy days during summer. But if you´re looking for a place most for brazilian summers its still nice to consider.
If you have $$$ I suggest the condo Villas de São José , in Itacaré. For a more modest option I would chose a nice beach close to Maceió.
