Err.....just to clarify this for you:

um = male
uma = female

brasileiro = male
brasileira = female

So, the correct sentence would be (if you're a guy):

"Não, mas eu estou noivo de uma brasileira."

Uh...I knew what I was doing. Thank you for the very basic, day 1 lesson--but, I wrote it "genderifically" ambiguous on purpose.

One thing I'm trying to do is learn Portuguese. I know a few words and phrases, but not a good grasp on the language itself. It would do good if I ever got the opportunity to do business in Brazil, or any other Portuguese speaking nation.

Nowhere will become the next US. The social and economic conditions of the times are way different to the 19th and 20th century, the golden age for the US. The closest story to that of America's is China, but it's still in some ways structured like America was even in the Industrial Revolution with a large labouring underclass. I don't hear that much about Brazil, of course it probably has abundant resources (I truly hope they begin to capitalize more on the Amazon as an asset rather than just a timber supply too), and the population, but in terms of 'world power status' it's definitely behind China and probably India. I don't really think Brazilians see themselves that way, anyway, but Brazil and South America in general deserves more exposure on the world stage, which way happen as the West continues to lose influence/dominance in world affairs.
