No, Americans are not more easily offended than other people around the world. People have different thresholds and beliefs and this affects what people are offended by. For example, the racial stuff that offends Americans would not offend anyone in a country like Saudi Arabia but the mocking of religion in America would be considered extremely offensive in Saudi Arabia (Jesus is an important prophet in Islam). During the pre-Civil Rights era, depicting an interracial relationship in any media was considered extremely offensive in the South, so many movie studios went out of its way to quash any depiction of black white romance even implied ones since Southerners found it very offensive. So called PC culture has existed for thousands of years and the norms have changed along with it.
