Hello,

I am new to this forum, my question is: I am looking for a business in South America, I have 50k start up capital. Location is somewhat important, where is a good place to start a business. Also, I am looking for a business that has a successful startup rate, since I am new to business, I would be willing to franchise but that is probably not the best option since the franchiser assumes no risk, and still charges me interest rates and other like fees every month.

So far, countries I have heard are good for business:
Costa Rica,
Uraguay,
Ecuador,
Brazil,
Panama,

Some factors I consider, since I am a white gringo, I need a country that has a more friendly white population, security is an issue in most countries, so blending in, is also important for me.

Other ideas,
Buying property, but not for sure if this will bring me any sizable profit per year
Retail store, low startup, can buy local items, and sell in shop, still very risky, plenty of these shops going around.

Ideas are very welcome ed, and if you have a decent idea then I will follow up with you on the forum.

Thanks,

Chile gives foreigners with a good business plan 50,000 dollars to startup.

Do you actually have an idea? Do you speak Spanish or Portuguese?

You're throwing away your savings if you plan to come to South America without any idea of what you're getting yourself into.

I agree with the post above. The language is a must, plus you need to have a good knowledge of other cultural factors too. I would advise to spend some time working in one of those countries to get a feeling of what you would be getting into.

If you don't speak the language and really want to start a business, maybe starting an English school could be a good idea...
