Small quantity of Brazilians abroad if we think the country have more than 200 millions of people. Less people than tiny countries like Colombia or Peru or micro countries like Guyana. Really surprise literally half Guyanese people are in Canada and USA.
The Brazilian population in the US has been steadily rising. There is a large illegal population, people who come on tourist visas and overstay. There are more and more Brazilians here in Southern CA. each year.

But I don’t think is really much more than the numbers that USA government gives. If they estimate the real number legal and illegal of Mexicans, Hispanics and others why not Brazilians?? Specially because the mass of Brazilians illegal enter into US with tourist or student visa and overstay is easier to know the numbers of people who entered and didn’t go back than almost ‘’invisible people’’ who enter without any register by land.
Brazilians are concentrated in warm areas like Florida or South Cali and a lot in New York area too.
Lot of Brazilians in NYC, Jersey City, Long Branch, NJ and all over Rhode Island. They are mixed in with the Portuguese populations in those areas. I don't have government stats, but I do have eyes.

Yes we know Brazilians are a big community in USA with almost 500,000 people but being the biggest Latin American country with more than 200 million inhabitants for me is really surprise countries like Guyana, Colombia, Peru, Puerto Rico have more immigrants in USA than Brazil… and others small Latin American countries having more or less the same quantity.
Brazilians have the idea that we are the second after Mexico but any way 35 millions of Mexican immigrants is huge number I expected 5 or 10 millions.
I know Brazilians abroad mix into Portuguese communities I saw that in London and Europe and you are speaking is the same in the USA. But and Spanish?? I thought Brazilians go along Spanish neighborhood in USA.
Puerto Rico is part of the U.S., and so Puerto Ricans in the U.S. aren't considered immigrants, even though, they are basically immigrants (speak Spanish, culturally and economically very different, etc.).
The crazy thing is that while the NYC area has more immigrants than any other city on the planet, the numbers would be far greater if you counted Puerto Ricans. There are roughly 2 million Puerto Ricans in the NYC metro. In the 1950's and 1960's, basically half of Puerto Rico left for the mainland.

Brazilians tend to mix in with established Portuguese communities on the East Coast the cultures are more similar and the Portuguese are much more established with communities over 100 years. On the west coast of the US(California) there are very few Portuguese neighborhoods we never had a tradition of working in factories. In California the Portuguese are well integrated but keep their identity especially in the Central Valley were there many own large ranches and farms.

Now that you said that, it made me realise that the data posted by Joao must be on population claiming Hispanic heritage. These 35 millions must include Mexican-Americans, Chicanos, etc. Same for the other countries.
