He died from complications from a surgery to extirpate a benign brain tumor.
Despite that I don't care for the guy, I do wonder if the complication was intentional. After all, he was operated in Panama. Maybe the doctor belongs to a family thar eas adversely affected when Noriega was dictator? Maybe the doctor always had strong anti-Noriega sentiment and now was the time for payback?
While it's possible that his complication was simply that with no hidden agenda from the doctor, we do need to wonder.

The complication wasn't intentional. It was a group of renowned doctors who performed the surgery and they told the family and the country before hand, about the risks that could had happened while performing the surgical intervention. As a matter of fact, the surgery was a success, but later on, a bleeding in his brain started and that was when the doctors decided to induce coma.
