Why after 5 weeks is San Juan still without electricity in large areas, based in reports received as of yesterday? The interior is understood but SAN JUAN!
If I were a Puerto Rican resident, who pays income tax, not to the federal government, but to the government of Puerto Rico, I would want to know exactly what they are doing with this money. FEMA can only help on top of the assistance that local jurisdictions provide.
FEMA is NOT geared to completely run the recovery, and certainly NOT after 3 other disasters.

Who said FEMA is geared to completely run the recovery? Where did my post mention anything about FEMA? I am very curious to know why you and other statesiders are constantly repeat that. Do you really think people believe that or do you spend all day lapping up statements from clueless politicians?
Who is we? Most of you statesiders were NOT aware of the assistance that Puerto Rico provided to others and the types of ignorant statements made indicate that most have no idea what Puerto Ricans have been doing for thmselves.
Are you serious with the questions about San Juan's electricity? Maybe because the focus is on getting to people and clearing debris. Who knows...
But the same is true for St. Thomas regarding power. In fact, Puerto Rico has more power than we do. St. John is completely dark. That doesn't mean that people are not working. You have no idea the level of devastation that exists in these places. It will take time. After Irma, we were blocked by a downed pole and power lines. On the other side a transformer was broken in half and wrapped in a tree, including the wires. It was like an obstacle course. Everywhere had this type of damage. Maria set us back further because it dumped water everywhere. So many places were flooded. Again, it will take time.
Please go back being bothered that you hear more about helping U.S. citizens. Not sure what you expect as you live in the U.S. Further, you seem to think money is being dropped in people's hands which is untrue and when people are simply doing their best to survive.
