I dont know about all that other sh!!t yall talking. But Puerto Rico should definitely leave the US and unite with the Dominican Republic, just them 2, not including Haiti, Cuba, or Colombia.

This would benefit PR more than the DR.
And the Dominicans would never go for it, having gone to school there I can assure you they want no part of any other country.
In 2013 they changed their constitution to get rid of Haitians, so pairing them up to create a larger Latin American country is also a no-go.

No, its just Dominicans dont like Haitians at all, becuz of their tension and very terrible past together (the 2 had wars basically tryna kill each other off), their somewhat different culturally (ones Spanish speaking mulatto Latinos, the other is French Creole and very African), the Haitians are much poorer, and also most Dominicans have a dislike towards their African ancestry or dont really care for it (so naturely their going to despise the much blacker Haitians).
Puerto Ricans on the other hand have ALOT more in common. Both are Spanish speaking, mixed race Latinos (mulatto/triracial). There never was no actually beef except a friendly rivarly that largely died down. Both 98% of the time live in the same exact US neighborhoods so obviously they realize they have alot in common and like being around each other. And when Dominican Americans intermarry or create offspring with another group, 80% of the time its with a Puerto Rican and vice versa. Puerto Rico has a large Dominican population by the way sooooo yea they obviously like being around Puerto Ricans, cuz if not they wouldnt have stopped there, they would have continued there way to the US mainland.
Pros for DR: Puerto Rico's strategic location can turn it into a Caribbean trading hub, similar to Singapore in Asia.
Pros for PR: Dominican Republic's larger size provides for a bigger and more dynamic agriculture sector.
Pros for both: Larger country= larger military, this is especially a pro for smaller Puerto Rico. There also literally right next to each other, not 1000s of miles away from one another, more like 100 miles from Eastern DR and Western PR (the distance between NYC and Philly), with no other country between them and only a small waterway separating them (Mona Passage).
Cons for both: Even tho they are extremely similar, both have a strong national identity.... but sooo does Texas, Quebec, and Catalonia. Atleast PR and DR is similar, Puerto Rico is not like any US state culturally (not counting their tiny Latin Caribbean communities).
The union would be more of a Trinidad and Tobago "brother" relationship, and not a United States "father/son" relationship.
Trust me bro, I live in the Dominican Republic RIGHT NOW, and was raised around Dominicans in NY as a child, I know what Im talking about. You are right, many of them would rather die a million times over than to unite with Haiti. And likely wouldnt like to unite with most other countries. But theres a few, I few like DR wouldnt mind uniting with and Puerto Rico is definetly one of them, off the strength that their super similar culturally and have a positive relationship.

To the DR and PR scenario. PR is so much smaller, it's more like DR would just get more landspace...and as PR isn't already a dependent nation, it's not like their would be debate about which currency to use, which legal system, or anything else.
It would basically just become part of the DR. I could see Dominicans having little problem with it. It would be debatable what individual Puerto Ricans would think about it though.
The idea of uniting the DR with PR will remain just that, an idea.
In order for a union to be successful it needs to be backed by the will of the people. If that is missing, you can do whatever political machinations to force down their throats what they don´t want and in the long run one of two things are going to happen; 1, one of the two peoples will dominate the other and then they will purge the dominated population from the most rebellious elements or 2, discontent will brew until the right moment for it to come to light and a battle or a war will take place which will be a war of conservation for the dominant people and a war of separation for the conquered people.
That´s how human nature works in this type of situation.
I do agree that DR and PR are very similar. Similar is great, but similar doesn´t mean they are the same.
Both islands can benefit tremendously with economic, social, and political mutual support and exchanges. A political union (and consequently a cultural assimilation) isn´t required for both island to mutually benefit from each other. As of right now, immigration regulations aside, there is nothing that could stop a Puerto Rican from going to the DR or a Dominican from going to Puerto Rico. You can actually drive between both places (there´s a ferry that connects Santo Domingo with San Juan and Mayaguez several times per week; that´s why you will sometimes see cars with PR license plates in the DR and with DR license plates in PR). Literally these two islands are as connected to each other as two neighboring islands can be.
The connections between the two islands isn´t new. It has been a constant since Juan Ponce de Leon left Higuey, in eastern DR, to conquer and settle the island of PR with the very first people of Spanish blood coming out of the base that through the centuries and intermixture gave rise to the modern Dominican and Puerto Rican peoples. PR society basically started as an offshoot of the society that was forming in what is now the DR.
In later centuries there were important movement of peoples between the two islands and in both directions.

Beautiful! Just looking into that, I didn't realize that possible.
As another aside, Puerto Rico is a beautiful place. There is more of images of it on google maps than Dominican Republic. PONCE in particularly, looks like a nice town. Something about it appeals to me.

I think Dominicans would actually be the ones more open to the idea than Puerto Ricans, if it ever gets close to happening, PR has to leave the US first. Puerto Ricans, even tho they are very culturally similar to Dominicans and have a positive relationship with DR, they still see the country as somewhat poorer, almost like a step down, while Dominicans see PR as a step up (partly becuz of its US territory status).
A union like that would be more like a equal power "brotherly" type union. Puerto Rico wouldn't get into it if it just becomes "apart" of it, and DR gets all the power.
Do they speak Spanish and located in the Caribbean?
Look for the pattern, my friend, look for the pattern...
Nothing to do among them. Cuba has been a territory of Spain, the US, and the USRR. Rather than join those neighbouring countries that have nothing in common, Cuba would rather join the former socialist brothers, Russia. Russians love Cuba, rum, mulatas and put up with inefficiencies, not to forget el condado de Dade that could form part of the Russian-Cuban confederation. The area of Maracaibo could also form part of the Russian-Cuban confederation. Chinese could also join to restore the former friendship, brothership and historical links with Kowloon.
The combination of Russians and Cubans produce breathtaking beauties know as plovinka, or warm rain, reason enough.

It has been possible at least since the 90’s. A couple of years or so a new larger boat is now used as the ferry.
This guy took video of parts of his trip on the ferry from Santo Domingo to San Juan. He show part of the food available, the entertainment, etc. It’s in Spanish.
