I’ve seen a bunch of videos for properties in Colombia and figured maybe we should start a thread showing what your money buys in various Latin American cities/countries.

I’ll start with this remodeled 1875 sq foot condo near the beach in Ipanema (Rio de Janeiro) for $800-820K US:

In Brazil it’s still possible to live well with a monthly income of about $1,000 US dollars.

But the minimum wage is close to $300 and the average income overall is $500.

This condo in Ipanema is a luxury and it’s considered very expensive in Brazil. But it’s not hard to find decent apartments in good neighbourhoods for less than $100k in most of the country.

It's better to just look at listings, not hard to find them. Usually they are a little more expensive that those not listed, the ones with just a sign out saying for rent and a number to Whatsapp.

I have on occasion posted some listings just to bring reality to people when they say I can live like a Mexican and get this cheap rent. It's important to see what living like a Mexican on low wages looks like. It's completely livable and might be a good deal, but don't get confused seeing the places social influencers live in and thinking those are aligned in cost with how most people live in those areas.

Just an example the listing below is about $350 US per month in Iztapalapa in Mexico City, where the "real" Mexicans live and you won't find any expats. When I see people talking online about how they think they can live for 1k per month I want to ask them if they are prepared to live in a place like this.
