Normally, I am one to grouse about the seemingly never ending stream of road projects each summer, but I have to say that I am very immpressed this year - actually for the last couple years. Anchorage is really starting to shape up as a modern city. Much of that can be attributed to some road projects that have not only improved the aesthetics of our fine city, but have also substantially increased the rush hour commute. MLK Drive, Tudor Road/Lake Otis interchange, Old Seward Highway expansion, (in South ANchorage) are just a few of the honorable mentions. Kudos to the State/Municipality for a job well done.

If only they'd do something with Dimond between Old Seward and Minnesota. At rush hour that whole stretch just sucks.

Related to this topic, I am impressed with the amount of work that is accomplished in such a short duration. However, I am amazed at the low standards of paving and subgrade preparation here compared with other northern states.

I would love for someone of knowledge in that area to chime in. I would think that if more adequate execution was implamented, there wouldn't need to be so many redoe and yearly, byyearly repaving.
