You really refuse to be forthcoming, here. "Some". "More than one".

You have WAY more pets than can be described with those phrases from what you told me via DM. That is why I keep telling you to be more up front and forthright.

Finding a place to rent for people with a reasonable amount of pets is not too hard, from what people in this thread have told you. You do not have a reasonable amount of pets, especially for a renter. You are making yourself out to be the victim of the mean, awful landlords who won't rent to pet owners, when in fact they just won't rent to someone with THAT MANY pets, which is completely understandable. Clearly you are trying to hide this fact with vague language. No landlord will be impressed with that.

Having cats will cause many landlords not to rent to you.

Stop with the accusations. I have not tried to hide anything from anyone I have attempted to rent from, nothing. That would be foolish. And the fact is, there are many ads on craigslist that ARE scams: when you reply to them, you get directed to some third-party website and such. If you doubt me, go see for yourself.

At this point, I am going to ask that you please leave me alone, as I am not interested in continuing this increasingly hostile conversation.

Jazzy, it just sounds like you have too many cats and were less than forthcoming about that. There are landlords who will work with two or three cats no matter what the idjit known as Stiffnecked thinks but.....a passel of cats might indicate to potential landlords that you are a collector of animals of the type that we see on tv now and then and no landlord wants to deal with that. It isn't good for the animals either.

Oh, good grief. I have seven. It's more than a couple, but it hardly qualifies me for "Animal Cops: Alaska." They are spayed/neutered, well-cared for, and healthy. This is not an out-of-control hoarding situation, believe me. Sick, poorly fed, and rampantly breeding animals are hallmarks of collecting, and you will find none of those in my home.

I've noticed that. It seems to be more difficult here than in other places I have lived. This may come as a shock to some, but I have never had trouble finding an apartment before, and I have also never lied about the number of animals I have. Oh, well...water under the bridge, as I have found a cute little place.

Cool. Good for you for being a responsible pet owner.

But don't take it for granted that people automatically know that about you.

Seven cats is a red flag, sorry. Personally I'd be real hesitant to rent to someone with that many cats. Or dogs. There have been too many times we've had to deal with animals that tenants weren't taking care of, or animals that they left behind when they moved.

Glad you found a cute place and I hope that it works out well for you.

Of course they don't, I don't expect them to. That doesn't bother me. What bothered me was someone jumping to the worst possible conclusions about my pets (and me, for that matter) in what seemed to be a very hostile manner. I did nothing to warrant that kind of thing.

I didn't post how many pets I have here initially, but at no point did I attempt to hide it from anyone I actually spoke to about renting. It was my hope that it was something that could be negotiated in a personal conversation, including what I assumed would be a somewhat higher security deposit (which is what ended up happening.) As for people who leave animals behind when they move, that's despicable. And yeah, I know it happens. When I was in graduate school, there was an article in the student paper about the number of animals carelessly abandoned at the end of each semester.
