I lived a year in Eagle River & hated the drive into town in the winter, found it nerve racking. My husband hit a moose that ran out in front of him from nowhere on the Glen. Ravenwood Elementary in ER is a top-of-the-line elementary school, that's for sure.

We're military, live in So. Anchorage. Love it but we only moved over here b/c of good schools. We have older kids. I've heard nothing good about living on base. We've never done it. Heard it only. The strict regulations don't appeal. We've been here for 8yrs got into the housing market as it was exploding! Then it calmed down but we had our foot in the door. It is expensive to buy in Anchorage. Eagle River is good but I personally would not like to live in the valley. We do everything we can to avoid that highway during rush hour. It can be a mess. Lots of military ppl living in the valley though. Some love it.
